[unedited]
For us, as human beings, the one connecting thread, the one through-line of it all, is the human form, our human form, our bodies. The conduit through which each of us senses and experiences – the world outside of us and the world inside of us. The receiver through which each of us perceives and makes sense of those senses and experiences. The source from which each of us takes action and moves through the world based on the perspectives and concepts of reality that are shaped by those perceptions of those senses and experiences. And cycling on and on and on. Our bodies – source, conduit, receiver. Our common ground. Our common sense.
Common sense: Noun. Good sense and sound judgement in practical matters.
What? What does that even mean? So, good sense is common sense? What about in impractical matters?
Common: Adjective. Occurring, found, or done often; prevalent. Shared by, coming from, or done by more than one.
Sense: Noun. A faculty by which the body perceives an external stimulus. A feeling that something is the case.
So maybe our common problem is that so many of us just don’t seem to sense – to feel – anymore?
